Heritage management professionals work in museums, government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations, promoting cultural understanding and protecting identity and history in a rapidly changing world
COURSE GLIMPSE:
This course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of heritage management principles, policies, and practices. It is designed to develop students' skills in the conservation, documentation, and promotion of cultural heritage. Additionally, the course introduces national and international frameworks for heritage conservation, equipping students with knowledge of relevant guidelines and regulations. It also encourages critical analysis of the impact of tourism and urbanization on heritage sites, fostering a deeper awareness of the challenges and responsibilities involved in preserving cultural heritage.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
By the end of this course, students will have a solid understanding of key concepts and debates in heritage management. They will be familiar with heritage laws, policies, and institutions at both national and international levels. The course will also equip students with practical skills in heritage documentation and conservation planning. Furthermore, they will be able to critically assess the role of tourism, urbanization, and community engagement in the conservation of cultural heritage.
